InstaJam (2019) - FaMLE Performed by FaMLE, The MIT Laptop Ensemble Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Every ensemble needs to tune-up, and this jam is an opportunity for FaMLE to get in-tune (and in-time) with the overall sound of the ensemble.

The piece uses a family of instruments called the “Insta Instruments” (or InstaRuments :-0 ) which make it easy to instantly create and change rhythmic sequences by simply holding and releasing groups of keys.

It also uses an instrument based an arpeggiator called "Starburst", in which a performer chooses a set of pitches and rhythms and the instrument continually combines and repeats them into repetitive phrases. Like the InstaRuments, Starburst gives the performer the ability to easily choose and modify the pitches and rhythms used by their instrument.
